چکیده مقاله:

Our judgments of information are biased in various ways. In our daily activities, we are exposed to many stimuli that can be interpreted correctly or wrongly. Frequent encounter with a statement has been demonstrated to increase the likelihood of accepting that statement as a true one (Bacon & memory, ۱۹۷۹). This phenomenon is known as the illusory truth effect. In other words, the truth effect maintains that false information can be judged as accurate information due to repetition. There are two primary ideas for the occurrence of this effect: increase in validity based on recollections, which is a conscious process, and processing fluency, which occurs automatically. In this investigation, we aim to recognize whether or not the truth effect can be influenced by source credibility. The results of our experiments determined that while the truth effect can occur, source credibility can alleviate its effect, people with higher credibility influenced participants to a greater extent. we argue that exposure can increase fluency automatically. However, the interpretation of our exposure can be a conscious process that increases the likelihood of rejecting the crowds’ statements. In addition, As the results determined, people of both genders and different ages can be influenced by the correspondent's credibility.
