Introduction:Appendicitis is one of the most common causes of abdominal surgery.Thisdisease has different faces and different differential diagnoses.Also,various factors andconditions can cause it.Therefore, the present study was performed to evaluate theepidemiological status of appendectomy in patients with possible diagnosis of appendicitisreferred to the Nomadic Martyrs Hospital in Khorramabad from ۲۰۱۷-۲۰۱۹.Materials and Methods:This descriptive study was performed on patients with possiblediagnosis of appendicitis referred to the Nomadic Martyrs Hospital in Khorramabad.Allpatients who underwent appendectomy due to appendicitis from April ۲۰۱۷ to February ۱,۲۰۱۹ were included in this study.Results:During these three years, a total of ۱۸۳۲ patients underwent appendectomy due toappendicitis,of which ۱۰۹۵ patients(۵۹.۸%)were male and ۷۳۷ patients (۴۰.۲%)werefemale and most of the patients were residents of the city(۱۳۱۱ people ۷۱.۵۶%)and wereunemployed(۱۲۷۵ people ۶۹.۵۹%).The highest frequency of appendectomy was observedin the age group of ۱۳ to ۲۲ years(۵۴۶ people ۲۹.۸%) and the lowest frequency of appendectomy was observed in the age group of ۶۳ to ۷۲ years (۱۸ people ۱%).Patients ranged in age from ۳ to ۷۲ years. Also, the highest frequency of appendectomy was in summer and the lowest frequency in winter. Also, most appendectomies were performed in ۱۳۹۷.In ۶۸.۶۱% of appendectomy cases, the pathology of acute appendicitis was reported.Conclusion:The rate of appendectomy performed in men in the field of appendicitis washigh in all age groups.Reduce fiber diet and increase the incidence of gastrointestinalinfections in the summer.
