چکیده مقاله:
Introduction: The cause of PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome) is still unknown and several factors may be involved. in the present study, the effect of a new generation of probiotic drugs, Synbiotics, on serum levels of sex hormones (estradiol, progestrone and testostrone) in the PCOS rats was investigated.Materials and Methods: In this study, ۲۴ adult female Wistar rats weighing approximately ۲۰۰-۲۲۰ g were randomly divided into ۳ healthy groups: Control, PCOS, PCOS + Synbiotic. To induce PCOS, rats were treated with Letrozole for ۲۱ days. At the end of the course, serum levels of Estradiol, Progestrone, and Testostrone hormones were measured by the ELISA method. The results were analyzed by ANOVA and Tukey tests. Results: The serum levels of estradiol and testostrone in the PCOS groups increased significantly compared to the healthy group (P<۰.۰۵) but treatment with Synbiotics in the intervention groups caused a significant reduction these variables significantly (P <۰.۰۵). progestron level inversly decreased in the model group in comparison to the control (p<۰.۰۵) but synbiotic could increase its level dramaticaly (P<۰.۰۵). Conclusion: Synbiotics have shown beneficial effects on the improvement of sex hormones levels in the PCOS animals. But further studies needed to approve this hypothesis.
