چکیده مقاله:
AbstractSix univariate animal models, including various combinations of the maternal effects, were used to estimate the (co)variance components and genetic parameters for growth rates from birth to weaning (GR۱), weaning to six months of age (GR۲) and weaning to ۱۲ months of age (GR۳), and the corresponding Kleiber ratios (KR۱, KR۲, KR۳), efficiencies of growth (EF۱, EF۲, EF۳) and relative growth rates (RGR۱, RGR۲, RGR۳) in Iran-Black sheep. The most appropriate model for each trait was identified by the Akaike Information Criterion (AIC). In addition, bivariate analyses were used to estimate the (co)variance components between traits. Estimated values of the direct heritability (±S.E.) were ۰.۰۸±۰.۰۳, ۰.۰۷±۰.۰۳ and ۰.۰۵±۰.۰۳ for GR۱, GR۲, and GR۳; ۰.۲۵±۰.۰۷, ۰.۰۵±۰.۰۲, and ۰.۰۱±۰.۰۱ for KR۱, KR۲ and KR۳; ۰.۰۵±۰.۰۳, ۰.۰۴±۰.۰۲ and ۰.۰۰±۰.۰۱ for EF۱, EF۲ and EF۳; and ۰.۰۹±۰.۰۴, ۰.۰۵±۰.۰۲ and ۰.۰۰±۰.۰۱ for RGR۱, RGR۲ and RGR۳, respectively. There was little additive genetic variation in growth rate and efficiency-related traits in Iran-Black sheep and therefore, a small genetic progress would be expected through selection. All the studied traits were affected by maternal effects. Estimates of the maternal heritability (m۲) ranged from ۰.۰۲ (GR۳) to ۰.۱۳ (EF۱) and estimates of the ratio of maternal permanent environmental variance to phenotypic variance (c۲) ranged from ۰.۰۳ (GR۲, GR۳, KR۲) to ۰.۰۹ (GR۱, EF۳). Genetic correlations between the studied traits varied from -۰.۶۳ (KR۱ and EF۳) to ۰.۹۹ (KR۲ and EF۳), and the phenotypic correlations ranged from -۰.۶۵ (GR۱ and EF۳) to ۰.۹۸ (EF۲ and RGR۲ and EF۳ and RGR۳). The study also showed the importance of inclusion of efficiency-related traits in selection programs to improve the biological characteristics of Iran-Black sheep.
