FT-IR study on the int erfacial interaction of novel N eutral Polymeric Bon ding Agent contain ing NCO group wi th RDX

Solid pr opellants are energetic p olymer com posites filled with finely divided olid particles called fillers. Fillers aid in processing and increase the energy of the composite propellants. It is gener ally know that many explosives a nd propellan ts contain oxidizers as one of their principle ingredient.The crystalline oxidizers are usually inorga nic compounds, such as ammoniu m perchlorate (AP) or potassium nitrate but can also be organic, for example cyclotrim ethylenetri nitramine (RDX) or cyclotetramethylenetetramine ( HMX). Al so composit e propellants require certain intera ction betw een polymer and filler (oxidizer an d metal component) i n order to prevent sepa ration around a particle of filler and obtainin g desired mechanical properties. Poor interaction between binder s and fillers are cause d dewetting. If dewetting occurs between the binder an d filler, th e flame front propagates below the burning su rfaces to produce a more rapid combustion of t he propellant. Addition of bonding agent is an important way of improving the binder-filler interactions in composite propellan ts. A bonding agent p roduces an interaction between the oxidizer cr ystal and t he binder b y forming either primary or secondary bonds w ith the oxi dizer and a primary bon d with the binder [۱]. In our pre sent work, by using of Fourier Tra nsform Inf rared (FT-I R) spectrop hotometer analysis we scrutinized interactions between novel Neutr al Polymeric Bonding Agent (NP BA) which i s containing NCO group and RDX.
