چکیده مقاله:

The recovery of silver in the form of n ano-particle s from medical wastes is reported in this work . Waste solutions rich in silver from indust rial or medical sources may be tr eated primarily with z nc powder. Silver recov ery was then followed by the use of suitable mineral acid like nitric acid throug h vigorus leaching reaction to yield silver nitr ate as precursor. Silve r nano-particles were eventually synthesized by treatment of the precu rsor with so dium citrate solution. The FTIR (s pectrum R XI Perkin Elmer) of the product as well as the results from XRD(mad e by Philips,modeled of pw ۱۸۰۰) analysis con firm successful formation of silver. The SEM (made by japan,model ed of S-۴۱۶۰) images show that nano particles of silver are forme d.There has been treme ndous resea rch activities reported on the recov ery of prec ious metals like silver in the literatures. Metalic silver may be formed by treatment of X-ray photographic films with sodium cyanide in an oxidizing envir onment at room temp erature [۱]. The recove ry of silver f rom variou s salts inclu ding Ce(SO۴ ) ۲ and NaClO by electrolysis and electroche mical methods has bee n reported elsewhere [ ۲-۳]. Silver nano particles could be formed with or without the use of dispersing agents fr om silver n itrate solutions with a mmonium h ydroxide [۴].
