The s ocial and economical de velopments of human b eings are d epending on better utili zation of ava ilable reso urces [۱]. Forests, the major sources of wood supply are declining at the alarming rate of ۱۳.۰ million ha each year in developing countries [۲]. Fillers have modifying effec ts on urea formaldehy de resin not only by decreasing resin viscosity and con trolling its p enetration into the wood tissue and improving bonding but also economically [۳]. Nano-size particles give super ior properties compare d to micr o-size particles [۴]. Substantial im provement of physical and mechanical prope rties as a i n situ reinforcement with silicates has been reported for v arious ther mosets and thermoplastics at low co ncentrations [۴].The in itial objective of this st udy was to investigate th e suitability of paulowina wood for OSB manufacturing.
