With the discovery of carbon nanotubes[۱], experimental and theoretical re search inter est on similar nanoscale tubular structures is steadily increasing. Recently aluminium nitride nanot ubes, structu res that sh ow great re semblance to the BN nanotubes, have been studied theoretically with regard to ge ometries, electronic pro perties, and stability [۲ ]. Chemical gases such as CO is highly toxic to human beings and animals as it inhibit the consumption of oxygen by body tissues. Therefore, gas sensors with high sensitivity to this gas are h ighly desired [۳].
