Solvent effects on the absorption spectra of Co(II)- tetrasul fonated phth alocyanin e

Metal phthalocyanines are int eresting mac romolecule s in nature. and technolo gical importance in many. In recent years, metallophthalocyanines (MPcs) have bee n extensively studied in non-linear optic applic ations, che mical senso rs, catalysis, liquid crystals, ph otovoltaic cells, semicond uctive mate rials and p hotodynami ctherapy (P DT) [۱, ۲]. This paper aims at rep orting the effect of various solvents on the absorpti on of Co(II)-phthalocya nine.Material and Metho d:Co(II)-phthalocya nine was ob tained from Merck. T he followin g solvents were used i n this work: D MF, Acetonitrile, DMSO , Methanol and Ethanol were procu red from Merck. UV-Visible spectra w ere recorded on a SPEC ORD ۲۰۵ Analitik-jena spectrophotometer fro m ۲۰۰ to ۸۰۰ nm. In an investigation ۵μm phthalo cyanine was mixed with various co ncentration of solutions made in different solvent fr om ۱.۴ to ۵۰ μM.
