چکیده مقاله:

Naturally renewa ble biopoly mers, such as polysaccharides can f orm into eit her coating or stand-alone films. Biopolym er films have been the focus of wo rldwide att ention for t he past f ew decades because the y offer favo rable environmental advantages. In order to sol ve the problems ge nerated by plastic waste, many e fforts have been done to obtain an enviro nmental friendly material. Most of the researc hes are focused on substitution of t he petro-based plastics by biode gradable materials with similar prop erties and l ow in cost [۱-۲]. PV A, carboxy methyl cellulose (CMC) and starch are polar p olymers; thus a composite of PV A, CMC and starch is likely to produce a m aterial having excellen t mechanical properties [۳]. T his study reports on the effect of CMC cont ent, on the properties of PVA/starch films, such as mechanical, thermal and morphological para meters. These studies were carried out to ass ess their potential uses as packagin g films.Meth ods: Films were obtain ed by the c asting meth od [۴]. Ulti mate tensile strength an d strain to break o f the films were determ ined using a tensile tester according to AST M standa rd method D۸۸۲-۹۱[۵]. Solubility in water wa s defined as the percent age of the dry matte r of film which is solubilized after ۲۴ h immersion in wate r. Infrared spectra with a resolution of ۴ cm -۱ of the sam ples as KBr pellets were recorded by Shimadz u FT-IR RF۵ ۰spectrometer the morphology of the surface of the films was investigated usnig a scanning electronic microscope.
