Densities, speed of sound and isentropic compressibilities of three binary mixtures Benzyl alcohol with tert-butanol, ۱,۲-butandiol and ۲-methyl-۱-butanol

Despite the extensive studies on thermodynamic properties of binary mixtures of alcohols [۱-۳], so far relatively less attention has been given to the mixtures containing an aromatic alcohol. Accurate information about the real behavior of these systems is very important for synthesis and design of chemical processes, so efforts have been made to overcome this lack of data. Benzyl alcohol was chosen for the present study because, except for its usage in perfumery, it is widely used in microscopy as the embedding material. Benzyl alcohol is also important as a solvent for gelatin, cellulose acetate, and shellac and in pharmaceutical applications as an antimicrobial agent.
