Liquid-Liquid Equilibria for Ternary Mixtu re of (Wa ter + Acetic Acid + Meth yl Isobuthyl Ketone) at Diffe rent Tempereture

LLE measurements and phase behavior of ternary systems including carbox ylic acids has been the subject of much resear ch in recent years in that LLE data are required for design of liquid-liq uid extraction units.۱ In this work, LLE dat a for water + acetic a cid + Methyl Isobuthyl Ketone te rnary system are to be achieved at temperatur es of ۲۸۸.۱ ۵, ۳۱۳.۱۵ an d ۳۳۳.۱۵ K .Materials and methods: Acetic ac id and meth yl isobuthyl ketone were purchased with puritie s of ۱۰۰% a nd more tha n ۹۹.۵% f rom Merck and Aldrich, respectively and were used without further purification. Standard ۰.۱ N sodiu m hydroxide solutions, Merk product, were used for titratio n. Water was bi-distill ed before u tilization. Ternary mixtures with known overall comp ositions were prepared by weighti ng in the spe cial glass c ells for mea suring the tie line data and these cells were then shaking fo r ۵ h at desired tempera ture and we re allowed to rest for ۱ ۲ h to achie ve equilibri um. Taken Samples fro m each phase were titrated with ۰.۱ N sodiu m hydroxi de solutions. The sam ple taken from orga nic phase was also analyzed using a gas chromato graphy (GC ).
