Schiff b ases are an important class of liga nds incoordination che mistry and find extensi ve application in different fields .Schiff bases based o n N,N'-bis(۲-hydroxy-methoxysalicylidene)-ethylenediamin can b e used to ob tain optical materialsan d conducting polymers . Thus, new optical andorgan ic conducting materials can beproduced b y thesecom pounds.Materials and methods: ۱mmole N,N'-bis(۲-hydroxy-۴-methoxysalicy lidene)-eth ylenediamin ۰.۳۸۴gr and ۱mmole Co(NO)۳ .۶H۲O ۰.۲۹۲۰gr was added to Me OH in ۲۰ m l.reaction w as refluxed for ۸ h and a precipitate was obs erved. The solid complex was w ashed with metanol and dried at room temperature.refluxed for ۸ h and a precipitate was obser ved. The s olid comple x was washed with metanol and dried at room temperature. Comp lexs was calculated fromthe transmittance and reflectance spectrum.
