Evaluation of pre-tension nailed wall performance under static state

One of the soil slopes stabilization methods, specifically in urban areas, is nailing in soil. Nails can be executed in ordinary or pre-tension. In this paper, the effect of pre-tensioning nails in deep excavations has been considered. The results show that pre-tensioning in nailed walls causes ۲۰% to ۳۰% maximum horizontal displacement reduction, which causes a ۲۵% reduction in nail length in the same condition. The maximum reduction percentage in the horizontal displacement of the wall is in the ۳/۴ of the upper wall and with the amount of ۳۰ to ۴۰ percent. Pre-tensioning has an insignificant effect on the total factory of safety.
