In this paper, interface of bi-material has been optimized using ANSYSparametric Design Language (APDL) in order to reduce the stressconcentration without stress singularity. In this code, Particle swarm algorithmhas been used as an optimization algorithm. The present approach is consistedof two steps: first, the minimum critical angle where stress singularity occursis determined using characteristic equation; second, geometrical modelling ofbi-material interface edge is done using Bezier curve. The results show thatwith constant Poisson’s ratio, stress concentration decreases by increasing theratio of elastic modulus. Also, with changing the ratio of elastic modulus, theobtained optimum interface is changed. Numerical examples display the stressconcentration reduces significantly in computational optimal curve incomparison to traditional circular shapes.
