Investigation of the Thixotropic Properties of a Commercial Polymer in Polymer Flooding Operation

Polymer flooding is one of the appropriate way of enhanced oil recovery process which can raise macroscopic sweep efficiency. In the approach of polymer flooding, interaction between polymeric fluid and brines is a remarkable point. In this research, thixotropic properties which is a reliable property at several concentrations and different types of salt were investigated. Finally, it was observed that the addition of single or ionic salts had a negative effect on the performance of the polymer and even reduced the thixotropic properties of the polymer.
