Content analysis of ۱۲th grade Iranian chemistry textbook based on William Romey categories and Shannon entropy method

چکیده مقاله:
The purpose of this study is to analyze the content of the twelfth grade Iranian chemistry textbook based on the categories of William Romey. The type of research is descriptive and content analysis. The statistical population of the research is the twelfth grade chemistry textbook published in the academic year ۲۰۲۰-۲۰۲۱, in which a total of ۶۰ pages were randomly selected to analyze the text, images and questions. In this study, first the frequency of active, inactive and neutral categories was calculated based on the model of William Romey and then the information load and importance factor of the categories were calculated. The results show that the inactive category has the highest coefficient of importance (۰.۱۰۳۲) and the active category has the lowest coefficient of importance (۰.۰۹۶۶). In image analysis, the inactive category had the highest significance coefficient (۰.۳۳۴۷) and the neutral category had the lowest significance coefficient (۰.۱۶۶۲). In the analysis of questions, unlike text and images, the coefficient of importance of the active category (۰.۳۲۹۷) was superior to the inactive category (۰.۱۷۰۳). This analysis showed that in preparing the content, the balance between the text, images and questions is not observed and the text of the book is inactive.
