For proper evaluating the seismic behavior of soil structures, performing dynamic tests on soil samples is inevitable. A majority of laboratory tests using cyclic triaxial and resonant column apparatus under saturated consolidated undrained condition were done to obtain the dynamic properties of some embankment darn core materials in Iran . The mentioned darns are Masjedsoleiman ( in the Khoozestan province ), Ahar ( in the Eastern Azarbaijan ) and Karkheh ( in the Khoozestan province ) . The tested soils nearly cover the whole range of particle size, varying from high plastic clay to gravel or mixed ones. Two types of core materials which has been planned to use as Masjedsoleiman darn core were M۱ (۶۰% CL, ۴۰% GC) and M۲ (۴۰% CL, ۶۰%GC). Test results revealed, although void ratio is the same for both samples but initial modulus of M۲ is much more than Ml .This implies the remarkable effect of gravel content
