AFFECTION OF ACTIVE FAULTS ON GROUNDWATER TABLE IN TEHRAN REGION

There are a few manners to investigation of active faults. Most of the manners are based on morphological landforms, such as scarps drainages etc.; whereas in large cities like Tehran, these evidences had been destroyed. Groundwater table anomalies is one the most impressive evidences which can be used to recognise the active faults. With respect to the phenomenon, called groundwater barrier (produced by reverse faults which are normal to groundwater movement direction) and water conduits produced by normal faults expansion process, a number of faults have been revealed in the Tehran region
