EARTHQUAKE RESISTANT CONSTRUCTION AND ARCHITECTURE

The paper presents in brief the essentials of earthquake resistant construction and architectural features in engineered as well as non-engineered buildings for protection of life and property at minimum cost. It is emphasised that long and medium range earthquake prediction studies along with earthquake engineering applications will be key to earthquake disaster reduction rather than concentration on short range prediction effort
