INELASTIC RESPONSE OF ASYMMETRIC SYSTEM TO AN ENSEMBLE OF ARTIFICIALLY GENERATED EARTHQUAKE RECORDS

Inelastic response of asymmetric system, subjected to an ensemble of artificially generated time history of earthquake is obtained for investigating primarily its ductility demand. A single storey ۳-D model structure having two way eccentricity and subjected to two component earthquake is selected for this purpose. Both components of ground motion are derived from the same evolutionary normalized PSDF of ground acceleration; the evolutionary rms for the two may have a fixed ratio. The investigation is conducted in order to study, how the stationary and non-stationary responses differ with different parametric variations. The results of the investigation indicate that the system s.haracteristics for non-stationary excitation may differ in many cases from those obtained for stationary excitation.
