DAMAGE TO LARGE-SCALE UNDERGROUND LIFELINES DURING THE ۱۹۹۵ SOUTH HYOGO PREFECTURE EARTHQUAKE

This report summarizes the damage situation of large-scale underground lifelines due to the ۱۹۹۵ South Hyogo Prefecture Earthquake which occurred in the Hanshin area, Japan, on January ۱۷, ۱۹۹۵ at ۵:۴۶ a.m. (local time) and of a magnitude ۷.۲ on the Richter scale and ۷ on the Japanese Meteorological Agency Scale (corresponding to XI-XII on the MMI).Owing to the limited available infomation, it is not possible to inciude all the large-scale underground lifelines in this report. However, damage to the following lifelines are reported :۱. South Hyogo Prefeciurt Common Ducts: ۲ Amagasaki City Common Duct at National Road Number ۲.. Vistinomiya City Commun Duct at National Road Number ۲. c. Kobe City Common Duct ai Nationai Road Number ۲. d. Aniagasaki City Coinnion Duct at National Road Number ۴۳. e. Takarazuka City Common Duct at National Road Number ۱۷۶.f. Kobe City Port Terminai Coinman Duct. ۲. South Kansai Electric Company Shield Tunnel. ۳. Osaka South Pon lintersed Tunci. ۱. Daiki Siation Subway Tunnel.
