چکیده مقاله:

Soil amendment with Biochar is universally recognized as a practical method to increase water holding capacity and crop productivity. Present experiment designed and conducted to evaluate the effects of Biochar soil amendment and cropping pattern on Chlorophyll characteristics of forage Sorghum under water-saving irrigation regiments. Two field experimental designs were randomized complete block split-split plot with three replications during two consecutive cropping seasons with forage sorghum (Sorghum vulgare ). Irrigation regiment planned in ۳ levels; I۰: Conventional full furrow, I۱: Fixed furrow and I۲: Alternate furrow. Cropping Patterns organized in ۲ levels; P۰: Single Row and P۱: Twin Row.Soil amendment with Biochar arranged in ۳ levels; B۰: Control (non-application) B۱: ۶ metric tons of Biochar per hectare and B۲: ۱۲ metric tons of Biochar per hectare. Results showed that interaction between year and cropping patterns was significant on Chlorophyll a - Chlorophyll b - and Chlorophyll total.Mean comparison of the simple effect imparted maximum content of Chlorophyll a-b-total in treatments with ۶ metric tons of Biochar application. The interactive effect of cropping pattern and Biochar application resulted in maximum content of Chlorophyll a-b-total in treatments under twin cultivation and ۶ metric tons of Biochar application. Biochar application resulted in an elevated level of water holding capacity of soil and marked a positive effect on soil fertility and it can be suggested for improved quality and productivity on a farm scale.
