چکیده مقاله:

Recently, scientists have reported that Ginkgobiloba inhibited the growth of HCT۱۱۶ human colorectal cancer cells. In the present study, we evaluated cytotoxic effects of Ginkgobiloba that inhibited the proliferation of the KG۱-a acute promyelocytic leukemia cells through induction of apoptosis. The KG۱-a cells were cultured in the presence of various concentrations (۱۰۰-۱۰۰۰ μM) of the compound for ۳ days and cell viability was determined by MTT assay. Induction of apoptosis was qualitatively assayed by Hoechst ۳۳۳۴۲ staining. Ginkgobiloba decreases cell proliferation of the KG۱-a cells in a dose- and time-dependent manner. The IC۵۰ value following ۷۲ h exposure was found to be ۳۵۰ μM for the cells. The results of fluorescence microscopy indicated that the Ginkgobiloba induced apoptosis in KG۱-a cells. Taken together, these results suggest that this compound with significant anticancer activity can be proposed as effective agents for further investigation in the future.
