Effect of compacting on bond strength

There are many cases that affect the adhesion between the mortar and the concrete bed. These include the shrinkage of repair mortars, which creates additional stresses between the two layers, which has a negative effect on adhesion. Another case is the proper compaction of the repair layer. By applying the appropriate compaction, small holes in the mortar can be reduced, which has a positive effect on adhesion. In this paper, the effect of proper compaction on the adhesion between repair mortars and concrete substrate is discussed.
