One of the key instruments in EFL/ESL learning is the textbook that the language institute uses. Therefore, choosing a textbook that suits with the aims and context ofeach institute is essential. Checklists are a good tool for choosing the right book. This paper was an attempt to find out if the book Complete IELTS meets the needs oflearners in the Iranian context. To evaluate this book, Litz’ (۲۰۰۵) checklist was used. The results showed that the textbook adequately covers different registers and accentsas the learners have stated that they wanted to learn both British and American English. Results also showed that the textbook also adequately covers the learners'need to get ready for IELTS exam. However, the learners' needs of skills to be learnt (speaking and writing) were not adequately met by the textbook as the evaluatorssuggest.
