Analytical Study of the Role of Resilience and Life Expectancy in Psychological Well-Being of Patients with Multiple Sclerosis (M.S)

Multiple sclerosis is one of the most common neurological diseases in humans and the most debilitating disease ofyoung people whose severity is inversely related to mental health. The aim of this study was to investigate the roleof resilience and life expectancy in predicting psychological well-being of patients Designed and implemented inM.S. Considering the importance of psychological well-being in promoting the health of patients with M.S, it isimportant to study the variables that affect it such as resilience and life expectancy. This study was a descriptivecorrelational study. The statistical population of this study was all patients with M.S in Isfahan in ۲۰۱۹.Participants were ۵۶۲ patients with M.S referred to the physiotherapy department of the M.S. Association whowere selected by convenience sampling. For data collection, three questionnaires of psychological well-being"Reef", resilience "Connor and Davidson" and life expectancy of "Schneider" et al. The data were analyzed usingPearson correlation coefficient and stepwise multiple regression model. The results of this study showed a positiveand significant relationship between psychological well-being and resilience (r = ۰.۳۸۶) and life expectancy (r =۰.۳۹۶) in patients with M.S. Also, the regression results showed that the subscales of factor thinking and spiritualeffects can predict ۰.۲۲۸ of the psychological well-being changes in patients with M.S. Considering thedeterminants of psychological well-being in this study, it is possible to increase the psychological well-being ofpatients with M.S and the quality of nursing care by implementing interventions such as resilience trainingprograms and psychological therapies focused on hope.
