This work presents details of the changes in lasing characteristics of ۲۰ GHz multi-wavelength Brillouin-Raman fiber laser that are affected by arrangement of gain media. The laser cavity is formed by using ۷.۲ and ۱۱ km dispersion compensating fiber (DCF) as well as their combinations with ۳۰ cm Bismuth-oxide erbium doped fiber (Bi-EDF) through forward Raman pumping scheme individually. From the results obtained, it can be concluded that employing the Bi-EDF to DCF lengths enhances the Stokes-optical signal-to-noise ratio. In addition, the maximum number of lasing lines with wider wavelength operation is satisfied when only ۷.۲ km DCF is used. However, at the specific Brillouin pump wavelength, longer length of ۱۱ km DCF results in the largest number of Stokes combs.
