چکیده مقاله:

In current work, wood chips as the main filler were used to fabricate wood chip recycled polyethylene sheets using a two-roller mixer calendering device to examine the feasibility and processability of wood plastic composites (WPCs) of high ratio content of the filler. Dried wood chip particles of ۰-۶۰ wt% were directly mixed employing a roller mixer. Mechanical properties such as the Young’s modulus and tensile strength of the fabricated specimens were characterized. Microscopic techniques were utilized to support the mechanical testing results with respect to the filler/polymer interface and fillers distribution. Thermal properties using the differential scanning calorimetry were studies to support the mechanical performance of the sheets. The fabricated sheets of such method could be used in outdoor furniture in high humidity conditions and where low density ultra-light composite sheets is in high demand as coating layers of the main structures or surfaces.
