چکیده مقاله:
In line with the fast and continuous technological developments of the ۲۱th century, learning environments and educational practices have been changing considerably and e-learning has been addressed more widely. In this regard, Mobile-Assisted Language Learning has gained popularity due to mobile phones availability, multi-functionality and various other facilities. Furthermore, due to the possibility of worldwide communication and the necessity of a universal language, researchers, educators and learners have paid special attention to teaching and learning English as a lingua franca in all over the world. The use of mobile phones in English language teaching and learning can be considered as the most recent changes in this area. Considering the recent COVID ۱۹ pandemic which resulted in the closure of educational settings in all levels, virtual education has been applied vastly more than ever. This highlights the significance of more research on this subject. Having been said, this article tried to closely review the literature on Mobile-Assisted English Language Learning, focusing on mobile phones, to improve its use by educators and learners through uncovering its benefits and challenges.
