Nowadays, the increasing worldwide energy demand and environment concerns lead to extensive research into power sources with low pollution and high energy conversion efficiency. Hydrogen is accepted as one of the most promising energy carriers to alternative fossil fuels in the future and as a clean energy because it only needs oxygen to burn and the only byproduct is water which will not contaminate the environment. Boron-hydrides are the most promising source to produce clean H۲ gas with very high rate at room temperature. To increase and control the H۲ generation rate through hydrolysis of boron-hydrides an efficient and robust catalyst is necessary, made up of elements that are abundant in our earth. In this study, CoFe۲O۴/CNT was synthesized using a hydrothermal method. The structural and morphological characteristics of synthesized nanostructure were investigated using various techniques such as XRD. The performance of synthesized nanostructure as nanocatalysts of the hydrogen production process was evaluated and optimized in the reaction of hydrolysis of sodium borohydride. The results indicate that these nanocatalysts can increase the rate hydrolysis of sodium borohydride and amount of hydrogen production. Based on the results, these nanostructures can be proposed as efficient catalysts in the hydrogen production process for hydrogen fuel cells.
