چکیده مقاله:

Background: Stillbirth is still recognized as a public health concern. Therefore, this study was performed to identify the risk factors associated with stillbirth and its incidence. Methods: In this study, ۱۸,۱۲۹ birth records were examined. For each stillbirth, ۳ controls (live and healthy infants) were taken who were matched in day of birthday. The gestational age variable was considered as a time-matched variable. Data were collected and analyzed using Cox proportional hazards regression model at the significance level of ۰.۰۵. (Software STATA, ۱۳.۰).Results: Five risk factors for stillbirth were identified, including: male gender, fetal diseases, gestational hypertension, gestational diabetes, and hypothyroidism, (all hazard ratios > ۱ and p<۰.۰۵). The cumulative incidence of stillbirth rate was ۹.۴۸ per ۱,۰۰۰ live births. Conclusion: This study identified, for the first time, maternal hypothyroidism and oligohydramnios and polyhydramnios as risk factors for stillbirth. Therefore, by identifying these risk factors, it is possible to identify high-risk parents and fetuses and prevent fetal stillbirth by taking appropriate proceedings.
