چکیده مقاله:

Titanium and aluminum alloys have been widely used in various industries, including automotive, aerospace and sports industries, due to their attractive properties such as low density, good corrosion resistance and good strength. Dissimilar bonding of titanium to aluminum alloys have received a great deal of attention due to cost reduction andachievement of desirable properties. Among various bonding methods, the transient liquid phase (TLP) bonding method has been considered by researchers due to itsadvantages. In this study, the Ti6Al4V and Al6061 alloys were bonded using the TLP method at 500℃ for 15 and 25 minutes with amorphous copper as interlayer. The bonding zones were microstructurally investigated and also microhardness measurements were performed. Tensile shear test was used to evaluate mechanical properties of thebonding. The results showed that dissimilar bonding of the Ti6Al4V and Al6061 alloys using TLP process with longer bonding time (25 minutes) had better microstructure andstrength than the lower bonding time. As time of the TLP process increased, the isothermal solidification zone increased and the non-isothermal solidification zone decreased. By increasing time of the TLP process, the porosities decreased and diffusion of Cu in the base alloys increased and amount of eutectic and intermetallic phasesdecreased. In addition, dimples appeared on the fracture surface.
