Establishment of an online information management dashboard for the status of patients in the emergency department to control the number of patients in the emergency department

Introduction: Emergency is one of the most critical parts of the hospital. Full information about the number of patients who have entered the emergency room and the number of patients who have been assigned has a vital role in controlling the number of patients in this area. Online for this purpose.Methods: The present study was performed by an action research method in Imam Reza (AS) Hospital in Mashhad. Critical stakeholders in the present study included a head nurse and an emergency supervisor, a nursing manager in charge of the HIS unit, a health information management specialist, and two software engineers. The steps of determining the main problem, planning, interpreting, and analyzing the data, and execution were completed. In JAD meetings with the team, user needs, prototypes, modifications to the proposed information dashboard were applied and then implemented.Results: Planning was done to create an appropriate information dashboard to solve the problem of knowing emergency patients' status. During the JAD sessions, the most critical data and reports required, including the number of patients and the number of patients discharged in different emergency departments, including Witting, CPR, PCPR, and the monitored area, were determined. Then, the relevant dashboard was designed by the technical team. In the meeting with the stakeholders' representative, seven requested modifications were applied, and after the link to the hospital HIS, it was implemented in the emergency department.Conclusion: One of the most critical needs of hospital managers, especially in hospital bed manager duties, is instant and online information about the volume of patients in the emergency room. The present study's findings make it possible for the bed manager to be informed about the emergency situation at any time and transfer the assigned patients through the necessary instructions.
