چکیده مقاله:

Schizophyllan is an extracellular polysaccharide that is produced by Schizophyllum commune fungus. This filamentous fungus is native to northern woods of Iran.Schizophyllan has a wide ranges of applications in pharmaceutical, cosmetic, food and oil industries. Aside from the main product, the microbial biomass producedby Schizophyllum commune can be mainly used in agriculture (increasing the fertility and productivity) and environmental (decreasing the pollution by biosorption of heavy metals) fields. In this study the amount of schizophyllan and biomass resulted from four different culture media were analyzed. Results show that the maximum amount of schizophyllan is produced in the culture medium containing fructose syrup as a carbon source. While in the medium containing glucose syrup, the highest biomass production occurs which is in favor for environmental and agricultural industries.
