چکیده مقاله:

Teaching a second or foreign language entails developing linguistic and communicative competence and transmitting knowledge about the target culture of the country in which the language is spoken. The current study aimed to investigate whether there was any significant difference between Iranian male and female English teachers in terms of their perceptions of teaching culture. To this end, 160 (80 male and 80 female) English teachers were asked to complete the standard questionnaire of role of culture in teaching (Gonen & Saglam, 2012). To analyze the data, an independent sample t-test was run. The results revealed a significant difference between male and female EFL teachers in terms of their perceptions of teaching culture. The results carry some pedagogical implications for teacher trainers and in-service teaching courses.
