Data Acquisition and Processing of the Strong Ground Motions in the Accelerograph Network Center er of Iran

The framework of the activities carried out by Accelerograph Network Center of Iran (ANCI) is: design, installation, management, data collection, data processing, and the data bank of the network. The Strong Motion Network of Iran has started its activities since 1973. At present over 1000 analog and digital accelerographs are installed in the country. Since the beginning of the operation of the network more than 3700 accelerograms from hundred earthquakes with various magnitude have been recorded. This study has been made to describe steps in the acquisition and processing of strong motion data in the ANCI. The seismotectonics and seismological background is reviewed, and current strong ground motion monitoring in Iran is summarized. The processing procedure of the recorded earthquakes is also described.
