Engineering Evaluation of the Earthquakes in Iran in the past Twenty-Five Years

In this study, by reviewing the seismotectonics of Iran an attempt has been made to clarify the strong ground motion characteristics. Since1973, by establishing the Iran Strong Motion Network (ISMN) a considerable number of earthquakes have been recorded.By considering the earthquake characteristics of the strong ground motions the structural damage of some of the typical buildings are evaluated. Finally, the long-term effects of these earthquakes are discussed.
