Numerical Investigation of Metal Oxide Nanofluids Heat Transfer around a Cylindrical Tube Bundle

In this study, the heat transfer coefficient (HTC) of forced convection around a cylindrical tube bundle using different nanofluids (NFs) for triangular alignment is investigated. Fluid flow is considered to be slow, stable and incompressible. In order to perform numerical analysis for solving Navier Stokes equations, the energy equation and continuity equation are used and solved by finite volume method. For solving governing equations by the finite volume method, Fluent software and SIMPLE algorithm are used. In this study, water as the base fluid and three Al2O3, CuO, SiO2 nanoparticles (NPs) with a volume fraction 1, 2 and 4% and various diameters 20, 40 and 60nm were used. All investigations were carried out for the boundary condition of the fixed wall temperature of the tube and the Reynolds number in the flow range of 4-40. The results show that the HTC for all NFs increases with increasing NP concentration and decreases with increasing NP diameter. In all cases, the HTC increases with Reynolds number.
