Habitat use of Siah mahi (Capoeta capoeta) in Taleghan River (Sefidrood river basin)

Sustainable exploitation and protection of biological diversity in riverine ecosystems,particularly effected due to anthropological activities, require determination ofhabitat use of its habitants. The Taleghan River, a tributary of Sefidrood River, showsa great diversity in terms of fish species. Hence, this research was aimed to study thehabitat use of Siah mahi (Capoeta capoeta) by sampling from 33 stations alongTaleghan river up- down stream of Taleghan dam. The results showed that thisspecies lives in temperature ranges 8-18°C by selecting 15-18 °c; depth of 10-55 cmby selecting 35-50 cm; river width of 250-22500 cm by selecting width less than 1m; river bed with stone’s diameter between 6-60 cm by selecting beds with stonesdiameter of 18-42 cm.
