Comparison of growth factors in European chub (Squalius cephalus) between Tajan and Siahrood River in Mazandaran province

Present study was aimed to investigate the length-weight relationship, conditionfactor, growth pattern and growing instant of European Chub, Squalius cephalus andcomparing these factors between populations of the Tajan River and Siahrood during2012. A total of 46 and 24 specimens from Siahrood and Tajan Rivers were collected,respectively. Then their morphometric characters and age were determined. Theresults showed that the correlation coefficient of length-weight relationship in Tajanwas as r2 =0.944 and r2 =0.839 in Siahrood. Also, there was no significant differencesbetween the condition factor of two populations (P<0.05). So that the average ofcondition factor in Tajan and Siahrood Rivers wer 0.49 and 1.39, respectively. Thegrowth pattern of Tajan population was positive Alometric, whereas that of Siahroodone was isometric.
