چکیده مقاله:
Climate variability may influence fish species abundance and distribution eitherdirectly through changes in growth, recruitment and production or indirectly throughchanges in food web structure. Previous studies suggested that climate andanthropogenic stressors have profound impacts on community composition, diversityand recruitment of fish. These changes may likely have impacts on the value ofcommercial fisheries. There is a time lag between the stress impulse experienced byfish and the species’ feedback and responses may vary according to rates ofpopulation recovery. Species with short regeneration times likely display most rapidresponses to change, such as shifts in distribution and timing of recruitment. Wepropose a model approach to evaluate the response of fish species to climatevariability. Instead of using traditional measures of fish stock performance (such asCPU and abundance) we propose the application of species functional traits in orderto increase accuracy of modelling species responses. The results of our analysis willhelp improve management strategies for fisheries in a changing ocean.
