Both hardware and software advances on the structure of the networks, extend the communications over the Internet. This, on one hand, provide an easy and cost-efficient IP communication while on the other hand has tremendously risen the volume of traffic on the networks. As the amount of data on the network increases the congestion increases in parallel too. When the congestion grows beyond the available bandwidth of the network, it is overloaded which unpredictable consequences may result in such as declining new connections, slowing the data transmission, causing unstable connections, and discarding the existing data by making the buffers empty. Either case clearly indicates a severe performance reduction that needs to be addressed. To prevent congestion occurrence on the wireless networks, this work develops a congestion-based simulation model on the basis of more efficient parameters and with the aim of minimizing jitter and latency. The model supports video communication in the network which as the most challenging traffic type have the most impact on network congestion. The model is implemented and the results are obtained to determine the most efficient parameters to enhance the network performance and avoid the congestion.
