In this paper a low-voltage, low noise amplifier (LNA) with high immunity to variability and reliability issues is presented. The presented technique is based on the threshold voltage adjustment of the LNA to suppress the effects of the variations. A simple adaptive body bias circuit is used to improve LNA performance under threshold voltage variation and mobility degradation. The noise figure (NF) parameter of the LNA with adaptive body bias circuit under 0.16% threshold voltage and mobility variation is decreased by a factor close to 4.87 times and 2.27 times compared to the LNA with constant DC body bias, respectively. The designed LNA has NF of 2.98dB and it works under 0.9V supply voltage with power consumption of 0.8mW. In order to illustrate the designed circuit operations, the analytical equations are developed and then validated by post-layout simulation results in 0.18μm CMOS process.
