چکیده مقاله:

The purpose of the present study was to investigation the pathology of English language teaching in the Junior high schools of Tabriz from the viewpoint of English teachers and students of this level. For this purpose, using a researcher-made questionnaire containing 34 questions based on the Likert scale, the views of 110 English teachers in Tabriz and 384 junior high school students were evaluated. This research is a descriptive survey research using one-sample t-test and Friedman test. It indicates that there are serious problems in all six identified macro factors in education, including: teacher, student, textbooks, syllabus, system and educational facilities and parents. Also data analysis in the form of one-sample t-tests shows that these factors do not have the same effect on teacher s educational behavior. In addition, ratings of these factors based on the Friedman test indicate that the most serious syllabus and curriculum and educational facilities are the least impediments to the proper teaching of English in schools. Also, based on the results, organizational factors, personal factors of students and factors of university education and employment affect students reluctance to teach English courses.
