Blockchain technology is emerging as a powerful tool to enhance sustainability and transparency in construction supply chains (@Kshetri2018, @Saberi2019). Traditional supply chains often face challenges such as lack of traceability, inefficiencies in procurement, and difficulty in verifying sustainable practices. Blockchain provides a decentralized, tamper-proof ledger that ensures accurate recording of transactions, material sourcing, and project activities.

In sustainable construction, blockchain enables real-time tracking of materials from suppliers to construction sites, ensuring compliance with environmental standards and ethical sourcing (@Wang2021). Smart contracts can automate procurement processes, reduce administrative overhead, and minimize delays, thereby promoting efficiency and sustainability. Moreover, blockchain can facilitate collaboration among stakeholders by providing a transparent and secure record of all transactions (@Xu2020).

Combining blockchain with artificial intelligence further enhances supply chain performance. AI can analyze blockchain data to predict material demand, optimize logistics, and reduce waste, while blockchain ensures data integrity and traceability (@Singh2022). Several case studies demonstrate reductions in energy consumption, material waste, and overall project costs when blockchain is integrated into construction supply chains.

Overall, blockchain offers a promising approach to achieving environmentally responsible, resource-efficient, and socially accountable construction practices. As the industry evolves, the adoption of blockchain-based solutions is likely to become standard for sustainable and transparent supply chain management (@Kshetri2018, @Saberi2019).
