Solar Cells: Physics and Trend

Solar power is most abundant and cleanest form of power generated today. In countries with sunny days importance of this energy is becoming more apparent than in the past and relevant discoveries are made. In this paper, brief annals of photovoltaic effect and its physics are presented. After dealing with mechanism of power generation by silicon solar cells and introducing its fundamental parameters, solar cells other materials will be covered. The world trend as well as advancement made in this field in Iran will be the concluding part of this paper.
