Improvement in Electrical Properties of PEDOT:PSS Conductive Polymer by Embedding Laser-Produced Au Nanoparticles

For the first time, we report on preparing highly uniform and transparent PEDOT:PSS poly(3,4- thylene dioxythiophene)/poly(4-styrene sulfonic acid) thin films using the droplet-evaporating technique. We observed enhancement in electrical characteristics of PEDOT:PSS by incorporation of Au nanoparticles (NPs). NPs were synthesized by green and facile method of laser ablation in liquid environment. After preparation of Au Nps/PEDOT:PSS nanocomposite conformational change of polymer chains from coil to expanded geometry has been demonstrated by taking AFM micrographs. Increase by almost two orders of magnitude in electrical conductivity of nanocomposite has been attributed to these changes
