Assessment of physical and mental problems of women during pregnancy and related factors

Background and Aim : Pregnancy causes many changes in women. Although most of these symptoms aredue to physiological changes in pregnancy, the definitive causes and factors that influence them are notfully understood. The aim of this study was to investigate the physical and psychological problems ofwomen during pregnancy and its related factors.Methods : In this descriptive study, 250 pregnant women with gestational age of 28-41 weeks wereevaluated using a researcher-made questionnaire for common problems during pregnancy. Statisticalanalysis was performed using SPSS software. The overall severity of these symptoms was also examinedin different age, educational, occupational, income and income groups. Significance level was considered0.05.Results : Mean gestational age was 36.99 /2 2.80 weeks. All women had experienced at least one symptom,and the overall mean of problems experienced during pregnancy was 9.70 4 4.93. Most problems wererelated to physical problems such as weight changes and nausea. In working women (p = 0.013), highereducation (p <0.001), primiparous women (p = 0.041) and those with better income status (p = 0.002), themean experience symptoms were significantly There was more. In 17% of cases, these symptoms weresevere. Most problems occurred in late pregnancy.Conclusion : Women during pregnancy may experience different physical and psychological problems dueto pregnancy conditions and without any particular illness. Some factors may also increase these symptoms.Understanding these effective factors and considering the specific conditions of pregnancy can helppregnant women to have a better pregnancy experience and subsequently improve pregnancy outcomes.
