succesful treatment with actinomycin-d in a case with methotrexate resistant EP

Background and Aim : Ectopic pregnancy is an urgent clinical condition that represents a serious hazardto reproductive pow er, and thus threatens woman s health. Commonly, methotrexate is considered for earlyresolution of placental tissue. Despite its potential advantages such as minimizing hospitalization and quickrecovery, its high skin and gastrointestinal side effects and requi ring time monitoring may limit itsapplication. Recently, high effectiveness of the single agent chemotherapy agents, such as Actino mycin D,has been suggested. Herein, a case of methotrexate-resistant EP that was successfully treated withActinomycin D was descr ibed.Methods : due to unresponsiveness to standard medical treatment with MTX,actinomycin-d prescribed andHCG level decreased.Results : The Actinomycin-D regimen could be used in refractory medical treatment of EP.Conclusion : As in gestational trophoblastic neoplasia,instead of MTX,actinomycin-D is a substitude.
